Took My Wife to the Range Today

I just got back from taking my wife to the range with my new SD9. She is not a gun person, but whenever I get a new one, she heads out with me at least once so she can be familiar with it just in case she needs to use it one day. That means this was her 6th trip to the range ever (3 with rifles, 3 with handguns). I think she did pretty darn well.

Her first group - 10 rounds, slow fire 3 yards

Her second group - 10 rounds, slow fire 7 yards

Her final group - 16 rounds, double taps at 5 yards.
This was her best group, by far. I think it is because she wasn't over thinking it on this one.

It's great that your wife gets involved with your hobbies. My wife doesn't care to go, though she has a 357 Magnum in her office safe.

That's pretty cool. My wife has little interest in guns. I can't get her to participate even if it's learning to use whats available within the household. That is good that she's taking the time to be familiar.

My wife shoots with me every year on my birthday. But that's about it.

I think she'd do it more, but refuses to use baby-sitter time for shooting. That's reserved for dates and such.

Hopefully when the kids are a bit older we'll be able to do it a bit more.

My wife actually got me back into shooting after I was out of it for a number of years. I think she enjoys it even more than I do!

Nice shooting. 50 years ago I handed my wife a rifle and her first shot was absolute dead center. She handed it back and said, "thanks for the lesson"
Now she is 70 and following a Christmas present to my daughter (S&W Mod 60 Pro series) I got both of them to go to the range with me and they wound up taking their carry class and qualified with ease. Their carry permits are in the mail.
