Too Squeamish?

Iran is threatening to nuke us. Illegal aliens are protesting their rights to stay. Some are complaining the the Flight 93 movie is too soon and too painful to be shown. I try not to get too involved in these types of discussions, but I thing we have become a squeamish nation.

Our first battles against Japan did not go well, they were basically cleaning our clocks. The early part of the European theater in World War Two was not exactly a cake walk for us. However, as a nation we fought on until victory was secured and the enemy was soundly defeated. Our current battles are probably not going as well as they should be. To be sure, there may have been strategic error on our side. In the past, those things did not deter us. We fought on until victory was ours.

I do believe that one reason a country like Iran is making noise is that they sense our insecurities. They see many Americans wanting to give up on the fight after relatively light casualties. They must figure that scaring us with a nuke will send us cowering into a corner.

Imagine how the Revolutionary War would have turned out with the attitude of many modern day Americans. I am sure the British would have appreciated it.

If you look at History

Our enemies have always thought us weak and insecure....
in the end they have discovered they were wrong.

I believe the media has cast a squeamish veil over America and made us all appear squeamish.

How many of you, or people you know, are honestly NOT ready to see the flight 93 video? I want to know the truth, facts, and learn from it. To hide from such an experience because of emotional or psychological reasons is damaging in itself!

People like Annie would be the exception to my comment. I agree anyone who lost family, friends, or loved ones on those flights would not like the memory book.

I feel the most sorry for my friend's elderly dad. He spends hours with his scrapbook remembering.

Time does heal but it is awful slow sometimes.

Some day I will watch the movie though. I really think those people on that flight 93 were so brave. So were the others.

When I see that film of the plane going overhead that the French film crew caught when they were filming a "day in the life" piece about the firehouse I think of my friend who by then knew for sure where the plane was going.

I wonder where all this will end, with mad imams in our own country building mosques and everybody claiming they want "peace."

I want peace but not if it means changing our country into something it wasn't meant to be.:(

movie

I will not watch the movie. Not because of of personal involvment, but because I don't believe Hollywood will tell the truth.

I believe it will be a horrible piece of propaganda. I don't know which way the propaganda will be slanted, and I don't care. it won't be the truth, and I believe the people on that plane, and their friends and families deserve better.

with cnn reporting worldwide with some soldiers saying they only signed up for the gi bill, never thinking they might actually have to go to war, what should other nations think. Heck, we're in a war and the media wants everyone courtmartialed for being in a war. Personally, they have no business being there, let alone being escorted by the military. War is cruel and "uncivilized" but I don't think a time out would work.

Our understanding of history is limited by Hollywood's version. Good guys wear white hat, victory in 3 hours, the ending is always known, and separate events are all smooshed together for a director's convenience. If we really understood the true situation of the US before the war people would not be so certain of the outcome of our current conflict.

I'm sorry, but I see that as typical 'gee aren't we awesome americans' type rhetoric. We've invaded and are occupying the 2 of the countries immediatly surrounding Iran. Do you honestly believe that they care more for our social insecurites as opposed to the thousands of troops stationed around them? They probably figure that scaring us with a nuke will deter a 3rd invasion. Insecurites...yeah, we need to be more determined...:barf: :barf: :barf:
