Tommy Lee Jones Is Bob Lee Swagger

Stephen Hunter's novel, Point of Impact, is coming to theaters in the next year. This link is the most tentative of insights that I have found, but I'm glad Tommy Lee Jones is on board as Bob the Nailer.

I'll update this post after some further searching, but I've got to get ready to instruct. See you all in a few hours (hopefully with more information).

Stephen Hunter is an Awesome writer.... and TLJ is "BOB THE NAILER" to the core.

They actually considered Brad Pitt and Keanu Reeves?

Good to see that more intelligent heads prevailed. TLJ is Da Man.

A short story about Tommy Lee Jones.

This story is true. The name of the girl at the medical facility has been
omitted to protect the stupid.

The scene is a rehabilitation clinic. Mr. Jones has had some minor therapy on
his arm (or wrist or hand, I don’t remember). He comes to the front desk to
pay his bill.
-----

Girl: Yes, can I help you?

Tommy Lee Jones (TLJ): Yes, I’d like to pay my bill.

Girl: (Somewhat impatiently) Well, what’s your name?

TLJ: You don’t know me? I’m Tommy Lee!

Girl: Well, Mr. Lee, you’ll just have to wait a few minutes. Take a seat
in the waiting room.

TLJ: (?) Walks away with his wallet in his hand and a stunned look on his
face.
-----

This story is true. It was witnessed by my wife and several astounded
onlookers.

Mr. Lee, um, Mr. Jones took a seat and was almost immediately called by
“girl’s” supervisor who helped him courteously and professionally.

BTW, he was very polite and friendly with everyone at the clinic. Seemed
like a nice guy.

TLJ: You don’t know me? I’m Tommy Lee!

She was probably confused by the lack of visible tattoos and piercings.

Tommy Lee Jones and Gomer Gore were room mates in college and they are still good friends. I wonder if Gomer's communistnazi ideology is also Tommy Lee's???

Gee, I just found about the "Bob the Nailer" books, so sue me, and have a couple on order. If what I have been told about the books and the studio does not **** the story line up, it should be a great movie.

Yeah, Point of Impact is the first of the series. Loved it. They are all great books but didn't like Blacklight that much...

There is, however, one fatal flaw in the plot of "Point of Impact." Anyone else catch it?

And just how do you adjust your hold for shooting downhill?

BTW, best line from 'Time To Hunt' is 'Front Towards Enemy' :)

I don't know anything about "Bob The Nailer", but...

"BTW, best line from 'Time To Hunt' is 'Front Towards Enemy' "

...reminds me of claymores. It's about 30 years since I played with them, but didn't they have something like that embossed on the destructo side??

I was wondering how long it would take for someone to make the jones/gore connection in this message.

took 7 replies... you guys are falling asleep at the switch

TLJ is also set to play James Lee Burke's Louisiana detective Dave Robicheaux (sp?) in two films. Jones will probably direct at least one. I look forward to them. Though Robicheaux is a fairly liberal character, I really enjoy the books and especially the local color.

Irritating isn't it, when an author gets a basic detail wrong? I kind of ruins the whole story.

Best line from "Time To Hunt". "Daddy`s home." Anyone read "The Day Before Midnight". Not a BTN novel but possibly one of his best.
