You're doing it the right way, in my opinion - keep having fun ...most of us will never make enough money shooting to care...
In 7 or 8 seasons of registered sporting clays...moving my way up to class B / is the highest I got ...and a win here and there in class, some Lewis Class payouts, a few plaques, trophy's and belt buckles - and I even won a couple of nice shotguns as door prizes..( including a new Browning Citori XT Trap one year ) .....and my total cash winnings were under $ 5,000 ....and even with the 2 guns, I won on the raffles it was only $ 9,000 probably ....
.....and just my entry fees for targets in registered events, were close to
$ 2,500 a year ...so call it $ 20,000 ( and I'm already in the hole $ 11,000 )....................
and the total cost of 20,000 shells a year, and the 6 or 8 practice rounds a week, and the gas, food and hotel bills..... its not a money making proposition....it was fun ...and challenging ...and money well spent ...but when it wasn't as much fun, as just shooting with my buddy's on a local level...I quit shooting registered ....( a guy only needs so many belt buckles ...) ....
...can't see it anyway, unless I stand in front of a mirror ...
