To blue or not to blue, ...

Here in the sweatlodge that is B'ham, AL, I carry an older Firestar that is in need of a new finish. Am I wiser to re-blue, or is stainless a better option to protect it in this moist environment. What are the relative costs of each? I know, I know, the gun probably isn't worth more than $150 - $200, but I like it and am comfortable shooting it. Of course, I could just buy a new pistol... :)

LD, stainless is the type of material used to construct the gun. It is not a "finish" but rather the gun itself.

Lucky, it depends on what you like. If you like the blue/black finish on your pistol then teflon is much more rust resistant than blue steel. If you like the silver/gray finish then I'd recommend hard chrome over nickle. In my shop prices depend on whether you want a matte or bright finish but: Teflon $125, Matte Blue $125, Master Blue $160, Matte Chrome $135 and Bright Chrome $170. George
