To All Those Who Say They Will Never Buy Another S&W

Keep in mind that the anti's want to remove guns from our society anyway that they can. If they can't do it directly through laws, then they will do it indirectly and that is exactly what is happening right now! S&W needs our support now more than ever. Remember, it is not up to a corporation to defend our rights (the primary purpose of EVERY corporation is to generate a profit for their shareholders) -- defedning our rights falls on our shoulders.

What happens when another company follows in S&W's footsteps? Are we not going to buy their products as well? Sooner or later, most (if not all) major gun makers will be going in the same direction. What happens then? We're only going to buy used guns? What happens when those guns start to wear out and break? A gunless society and the anti's win!

We need to stand behind the gun makers now with our support more than ever. If we don't like a particular model (or feature -- such as a 'smartgun' for example) then we just don't buy it the way we pick and choose now but if we blindly boycott all of their products, we're only going to shoot ourselves in the foot in the long run.

A Plan For Smith & Wesson

Fud:

You are on the mark about us not being able to shun all manufacturers if they follow Smith and Wesson to satan's bargaining table. That having been said, Smith cut and ran around the end negating all of the time money and effort spent to defend the industry against the poverty pimps who ignore personal repsonsibility. Beretta has stood up to the marxists and they are under the same pressure if not more than S&W (Sell-Us-Out & Waffle). What will be next: fast food, fast cars or candy factories? I said it then and I will say it again, when this all started, the manufacturers should have boycotted the police departments in the cities that were suing them! But no, there was too much greed in the industry. We knew what to expect from clinton after the tobacco suits. The "I did it to survive" dog don't hunt in this field.

You suggested that we could just refuse to buy into the smart gun technology. Well, that would be fine and dandy but if HUD gets their way, there won't be anything but smart guns available to the public in a few years. Furthermore, the agreement states that all guns which might appeal to the criminal will not be sold buy a dealer who is authorized to sell S&W products. Shazam!!! All guns appeal to criminals!

Remember,it was John Q. Public who made S&W what they are over the years; not the U.S. Military and Law Enforcement Community and while we are on that subject, where do you think the tax dollars come from to fund the police and armed forces?

This was purely done to protect the interests of Smith and Wesson at the expense of who brought them to the dance-----namely us. And BTW, coporations do have an obligation to their customer base. If they fail in these imperatives, guess what happens, their customer base will dwindle and that is exactly what will happen. When Ford made the Pinto which was clearly a danger to the public, did we excuse their actions because they were trying to survive? I think not. When a beef packer allows thousands of pounds of e-coli-tainted meat to get out the door, do we just write it off as a survival mechanism? I think not.

Yes, Smith and Wesson is history in this family....period. Will I buy a Glock or Taurus if they are forced to capitulate? The answer is only if it is a necessity but never Sell-Us-Out and Waffle since they tucked tail and scampered.

They came for the guns of the assault-style weapons enthusiast and no one spoke up. They came for the weapons of the home-owner and no one spoke up. They came for the weapons at the hunting club and no one spoke up. They came for the weapons of the competition shooters and no one spoke up.Then, they came to disarm the local police forces in lieu of a global security force and there was no one left to speak up.

Gun control: a criminal's dream come true and a politician's necessity.

Your wrong,
S&W did not have to jump ship like they did. What is needed is solidarity amongst the gun manufacturers. It is not surprising that a British owned company would not care what influence their move has on our rights. They gave up theirs long ago.

I will NOT buy a Smith & Wesson ever again. They need to get a clear message on where their bread and butter comes from. If they agreed to sell trigger locks with their guns I would consider it a comprimise but this is an out right slap in their customers faces.

You want to stand behind a gun company? Then call those who are holding out and tell them that you are shifting your gun purchases away from S&W and giving it to them.

Most likely Glock will be next because they have their hands so far in Law Enforcements pockets that they could get buy with out selling joe citizen a gun.

If we fully boycott S&W it will send a message to the other gunmakers to unite and fight for us with all the money we've given them over the years.

This roll with the punches attitude is what got us where we are now. Fighting for our God given rights.

My e-mail to Ed Shiltz ...
quote:
Dear Mr. Shultz:

I am writing to you today to voice my very strong displeasure with the agreement that was recently signed between your company and HUD. While I do not claim to be aware of the various factor that influenced your decision, I have read with great deal the terms of the agreement and it makes me sick to my stomach.

I own more S&W firearms than all other firearms combined. I have been a loyal S&W supporter for the past 18 years. Your company's products have been the first ones that I turned to when looking for a new firearm because I truly felt that you made the best handguns in the world.

While I am sure that you did what you thought was best for your company, you definitely did not do what was best for the shooters that have supported your company with their purchases for over a century.

In good conscious, I can not continue to purchase your products while this agreement (with all of it's attacks on our freedoms) remains in tack. Additionally, if you begin to incorporate the safety features which are spelled out in the agreement, you will soon not have any products that I am interested in anyway.

While this may be a done deal, I strongly urge you to use every means at your disposal to void out this agreement. Other companies are also being targeted by our government but they are standing firm (see http://www.cnn.com/2000/ALLPOLITICS/stories/03/21/glock.guns/index.html). Remember the old saying, together we stand and divided we fall.

Please reconsider your position on this matter. I would hate to think that I've been supporting the wrong company all of these years. Sincerely,
[/quote]
