Have any of you guys compared side to side- with range time the Taurus 85 UC ported, titan, bobbed snub and the S&W 342PD? Your thoughts are appreciated.

Opps Doubletap. Need to have the trigger group checked I guess.

I have to give the edge to Taurus on this one. The smith's arn't bad, in fact they ae quite nice. However the Taurus fit my hand better and more importantly it was ported.

Others will dissagree I am sure but on a weapon of this weight you need that porting. It directs the recoil into your hand instead of leting it flip up. When you combine this with the wonderful Taurus grips it takes the .357 mag (the type I fired in both) From a painful experience to a sharp nudge. :)

Flaim, I own the Taurus 85UL/UC model and after firing it at the range, I feel a little bit uncomfortable with the porting in an up close defensive situation which is why I have the S&W342 on lay-away right now. FUD.

I own a Total Titanium Taurus 38 with the short 2 inch ported barrel. I like this gun alot. It doesn't kick nearly as hard as some people might think. One thing is for sure, the porting really works as the gun gets very dirty around the ports after shooting 50 or so rounds....

Also have a S&W 342PD. Good ankle bug. Since I have a tendency to shoot IDPA, ported guns not allowed. So the decision was both practical carry and gun that could be shot in match if I wanted. Sometimes the course of fire calls for using your bug.
