The second twit appeared on Gum ball's show and made the following unchallenged statement:

"His wife, Tipper, appeared on CBS' "Early Show" and said that "easy
access to guns on the Internet" was a frequent concern of teens she
met in recent campaign forums. "They say they can order guns, they can
order parts to guns and put them together," Mrs. Gore lamented."

Of course, how would it have been challenged? No one there knows the first iota, not a whit, not a modicum of knowledge of firearms. What she fails to realize is that yes, the kids can indeed "order" a firearm over the Internet. They just can't pick it up when it gets to the FFL. Sure they can order "parts" with the exception of the receiver that will also have to go to an FFL.

These stupid, ignoramuses leave me aghast.

I submitted the following to the "Early Show" complaint e-mail page.

On the Early Show yesterday, Mrs. Gore stated that "easy
access to guns on the Internet" was a frequent concern of teens she
met in recent campaign forums. "They say they can order guns, they can
order parts to guns and put them together,".

It is unfortunate that no one on your show is knowledgable enough about the firearms issue to have corrected her.

yes, you can "order" a firearm on the Internet. It must be delivered to a federal Firearms License (FFL) holder and you must then go to that FFL and fill out the 4473 "yellow sheet", go thorugh a background check, and comply with all waiting periods.

As for parts, yes you may "order" parts over the Internet -- except for the receiver. That is the part that makes the firearm a firearm; that is the part with the serial number; and that is the part that must be delivered to an FFL holder and you must then go to that FFL and fill out the 4473 "yellow sheet", go thorugh a background check, and comply with all waiting periods.

Yes, it is too bad that you don't have anyone on your staff who knows these things. Until you do, you will continue to be a witting or unwitting co-disseminator of lies.
