Headed to Lowes in search of tin solder to harden up some pure lead I found.

What specifically should I be looking for?

Lead-free solder. It's usually all tin.
Some, such as Silvabrite, has a teeny bit of copper and silver in it.
It works wonderfully though. Kinda pricey at Lowe's, but if that's the only place you can find it......
