Timney trigger conflict with floor plate.

I had a timney trigger on an older model 700 so decided to just switch it out with my new model 700. The problem is the new 700 has a floor plate that opens, the old one didn't. Anyway the adjusting allen screw that sticks out the bottom of the trigger hits the floor plate release mechanism. Is there a more elegant way of fixing that other than filing off the floor plate release knob?

Your old one, was it an ADL? Shouldn't make a difference if it's the right timney. I'd get a Brownells catalog and check numbers on your trigger - no, I wouldn't want to file either.

Yes, the old one is a ADL. I haven't researched it much, but the pictures I see of the newer timney triggers don't have the allen set screw so maybe there's a difference. Is there an after market solid trigger guard/floorplate? Wouldn't it also be desirable to be able to use the third (center) bolt instead of just two bolts to bolt the receiver to the stock? The receiver is threaded for it. The old ADL uses three.

That middle or "third screw" on a Remington or a Winchester is just to be snugged up till there is no play in it - it's not a hold-down screw - it merely holds down the trigger guard (etc).
Your action screws are front and rear.
