Time Magazine Gun Control Poll

Because of that last question, I didn't even bother to submit my answers. Gun owners are screwed no matter how they answer it. It's a typical liberal ploy.

I agree but you can vote only on the first and it will still accept it. I have no intention of giving them more fuel for the fire either.

I answered both, but here's the message I got when I tried to submit the answers:

Unable to open the template file (/opt/gdml2/templates/www/ti): No such file or directory.

So they didn't like the way the poll was going, apparently.

Polls tallies are:

Should US have stricter Gun Control Laws?

Yes: 28.72%

No: 70.27%

Not sure: 1.00%

Rate the effectiveness of the Brady Bill and the Assault Weapons Ban:

Very Effective: 7.73%

Somewhat effective: 14.10%

Somewhat Ineffective: 9.89%

Not at all effective: 64.61%

Don't know: 3.64%

Total votes tallied: 239451

The only thing "Brady" has been effective at is inconveniencing legal gun buyers. Criminals rarely fill out 4473's, and the feds don't follow-up/prosecute if they do. Stupid poll, sorry to be preaching to the choir again. M2

I'm confused, what's wrong with the second question?

It states and I quote; "2. How would you rate the effectiveness of the Brady Bill and the assault-weapons ban in preventing the illegal use and distribution of guns?

Lets see, how would I rate the effectiveness of the BB and the a-w ban in preventing illedgal gun use and distribution of guns? hmmm,

The Brady Bill is hostile to the spirit and letter of the Bill of Rights, and the Assault Weapons Ban is out and out unconstitutional.

Whole new classes of crimes have been invented by these new prohibitions. As the supply of legal arms becomes more and more constrained, illegal arms are beginning to proliferate. The economy of contraband. Crime of this type is on the rise. What adjustments to the crime statistics have occured have been in direct correlation to the citizens taking up arms in the form of CCW, so, these two factors have not had any positive effect on crime, but rather have made the situation worse.

So, I'd say "Not At All Effective" with a clear conscience.

Please show me my error,

thanx

If the media thinks that people think that the Brady Bill is ineffective at preventing crime, the media will then call for more 'effective laws' to prevent crime. The questions essentially asks "Do we need more gun laws to prevent crime?" Trick question.

jcoyoung,

I saw this poll a few months ago on Time, or else they are still running it.

I half suspect they run that poll, get hammered, write some anti-gun articles as "news", run the poll to see if the propaganda was effective, etc. etc. until they find the right nerve to alter opinions.

I just took the poll and we are kicking butt. It's not even close. Everyone keep voting.
