Well, it's that time again. My current list of possibles are:

Glock 36
Sig P229 .40 cal
Kahr MK40
HK USP 45
Springfield 1911 Loaded

Not looking for a particular function, just another to help round out the collection. Which would you get?

I already have comparable guns to all those listed above with the exception of the Kahr. Differnt models, but the makes are very familiar. Planning on buying on Mother's Day so input very important :)

This may sound bizarre, but do you already have a .22 pistol or revolver for use when starting out new folks at the range? Next on my list ...

Regards from AZ

Tough call. The one I'd knock out is the Kahr. It's alright, but nothing special. In my humble collection, I have among others a P13.45 (similar to the Springfield, I guess), a G23 (quite frankly not sure which the 36 is. I think it's a .357 or a single stack, but lost count at G27), and a 229. Don't have a USP yet (although it's on my list of things to buy; I just haven't decided which one I want yet).

If I remember correctly, I bought the Glock 23 first, then the Para-Ord, then the 229.

Sounds like it's just a matter of time before you have all 5, so I'd get the gun with the highest capacity first, along with some hi-cap mags. Chances are you'll be able to buy a Kahr or a Springfield with full (<10) capacity mags in the near future, but hi-caps will be hard to find.

The Sig, Springfield, and Kahr wont be much different than what you probably already have. The G36 is a little different in that it is the first single stack ever made by one of the first co.s to push double stack pistols. It is also obviously their slimmest.

The HK is also a really neat pistol that would be nice to keep. Personally, I'd get that one.

If you don't have a Kahr, check out their P9 and P40 polymer framed pistols. The P9 is next on my list.

Springfield or HK? Springfield or HK? This is a tough one... *tosses silver dollar high up in the air* 'heads' it's the loaded Springfield--I have one and it is flawless; without question the best gun in my collection. 'tails' its the HK 45--I shot one at the range and put 4 out of 8 shots through the same hole...

You can't go wrong with either one...

Take the long way home...

Definitely the SIG P229 .40Cal. It has the versatility of also becoming .357 SIG for another $110 (SIG facotry bbl for .357 SIG). With the growing popularity of .357 SIG, the P229 allows you to leverage your investment like no other pistols on your list. The best of both worlds. You can enjoy both calibers for the price of one. :D :D :D

Either the 229 or the loaded Springfield (my next purchase). The Glock 36 aint all its cracked up to be. Its not much slimmer than the 30 and is more of a handfull. Since there aren't any rental ranges in my area, I bought one and sold it already after I wasn't happy with it.
