Tikka Whitetail Hunter

Anyone out there with one of these? Looking for some opinions before I order one.

Gonna get it in .338 Win Mag.

Thanks in advance.

I asked a similar question a few weeks ago. I ended up buying the Tikka in synthetic stock. I however went with a 25-'06. The first thing that I did was follow the instructions in the manual and lightened the trigger. I brought it down to about 2.5#. This is one of the best factory triggers I have ever seen. No creep whatsoever, it breaks cleanly and crisply, and there is little overtravel. I went to the range to do some sighting in. With factory Winchester ammo I was shooting sub-MOA groups at 100 yards. Was I ever impressed :D. Since then I have been working up loads using Noslers and have shrunk that down to 1/2" groups. The rifle is everything that I expected it to be. If you do a search using the word "Tikka" you will find lots of posts. I read them all and I don't think that there were any complaints whatsoever. The general concensus was that they were real good shooters. Mine just adds to the list. Besides, Tikkas are made in Finland in the SAME FACTORY as Sakos. But you pay several hundred dollars less. I don't like making too many recommendations, but if your .338 WinMag shoots as well as my 25-'06, you may well find a new favorite rifle. My Weatherby in 30-'06 has taken the back seat to my Tikka :D

If you search in this forum for "Tikka" you'll see lots of positive comments from me and others. Suffice to say, its probably the best deal in factory rifles you'll find anywhere. You won't regret buying one.

Got to handle a Tikka the other day. Master Sporter version though. It has an incredlbly smooth action. MUCH smoother than my Rem 700 PSS. Looked like a really well put together unit. My only concern was the stock being wood and all. Dont know how well it would hold up in wet/moist environment.

I've posted a few times on the Tikka previously. Very accurate rifles with more plastic than the Remington. If you can live with that they are one of the best bargains out there. I like mine and don't know many people who have them that don't like them.

Ordered the rifle today.

Got the parkerized barrel in the synthetic stock.

There is an elk in Colorado that is in a LOT of trouble later this year, and others that are in line for years to come!

Now for a suitable scope.

Am open for suggestions there, too!

S.W.F.A (http://www.swfa.com) has the Bushnell (sold last year under the Bausch & Lomb name) Elite 3200 3-9x40 for $170. I have the B&L Elite 3000 on my Whitetail Hunter, which is last year's model, and its a very nice scope.
