Tikka + weaver

Has anyone used the buck commander scope by weaver??and has anyone had a tikka t3 lite in 308win??I would like to know how the scope and rifle are before buying them..the setup will most likely be used for hunting small to medium sized game at distances between 50 to 300 yards...
-thanks in advance

A mate has a Tikka T3 Lite Stainless in 30/06 that I have shot on a few occassions. I found the Tikka accurate, but due to the light weight it kicked a little more when bench shooting. Since you will be hunting with yours, this shouldn't be a problem. The Tikka is a capable 300 yard gun.
I don't have personal experience with Weavers, but I believe they are a good mid-priced scope.
I think you would be happy with a Tikka/Weaver combination for hunting, especially if you hunt the mountains where the weight saving of the Lite will become apparent.

If you can get past the non-traditional looks Tikka makes an excellent rifle. My only real complaint is that replacement magazines are insanely expensive and hard to find. I've had a couple, including one in 308. Both shot and functioned very well. I sold them both to finance the purchase of a Kimber 84M. Nothing was wrong with either rifle, I just like the Kimber better.

I have no experience with the new Weaver scopes, sorry.

+1 on the Kimber 84M. I lucked out and got a Classic Select Grade 84M in .260 Rem for $500... MSRP is $1300 on new ones, but the .260 Rem model is no longer made. Glad I bought it, it is my favorite hunting rifle.

there the same case just one is necked down to a 7mm the 7-08 is faster but the 308 has more energy and the 7-08 has less drop but they well both do vary good on deer or any other mid game

oh and the 7-08 has less kick

Thank you guys for all the replies so far...I have another question..does anybody know a good handload for the 7mm-08 using 140gr nosler partition and the 140gr Sierra gameking??any specific powder, powder grains etc??
I plan on trying out those two bullet...
Thanks again

IMO, the 7mm08 is pretty much the same as a .308; just ten grains less bullet weight. Six of one, half-dozen of the other.

I find the cartridge dimensions of the 7mm08 more aesthetically pleasing than the .308. :D

I've used H414, and started two grains under book max. Book max worked fine for sub-MOA groups, and magnum primers didn't seem necessary; I used Winchester. Speer 13 suggests Re19, as well.

Current Weaver scopes seem to work just fine.

My 7mm-08 likes the Nosler BT with 45.5 grains of H4350 and a Win LR primer. .5" groups @100yds. Its a devastating deer round in that combination. Most people like the 120 to 140grn bullets though but for me, I prefer a heavier bullet and at 2750fps its got plenty of speed to do its job well.
