Tikka T3 safety?

Have you noticed that it takes too little effort to push the safety off. In other words, it takes so little effort to push the safety from safe to fire status that it seems dangerous? Is there a fix?

Answer.

There is a hole in the bolt. There is a stainless rod in the trigger assembly that goes up into this hole in the bolt, when two conditions exist. The first is that the gun is on safety. The second is that the bolt is all the way cammed down. If the bolt is not all the way down, the rod cannot line up with the hole in the bolt. In this case, the torx screws from the front scope mount were too long and would not let the bolt cam all the way down in place. Thus the safety would only partially engage and thus seemed very light. All it took was to use the dremel with a cut off wheel to take about a 1/16 inch off the torx screws. Viola, safety engages fully.
