I am looking at buying a new rifle and I was thinking about the Tikka T3 Lite Stainless rifle in a 7mm Mag. My question is does anybody else own one that can answer a question for me.......

How bad does it kick?? I picked up one of these rifles at the local gun shop and it weighs about the same as a feather. So i was just wondering if I shoot it, will it blow me into the next county?? Let me know your thoughts.

I have a T3 Lite in 300 WSM and replaced the factory recoil pad with a Hiviz X-coil pad, and there are pre-fit pads available now. 30 to 40 rounds from the bench will definitely get your attention, but is tolerable, and you won't notice recoil in field use.

I have a 300WM with a Limbsaver and the recoil is a bit intense but manageable off the bench. On the bench the old saying "kicks like an army mule" comes to mind. You'll also want to make sure you pick a scope with plenty of eye relief.

The biggest advantage of the Tikka is its light weight. Stay with the synthetic stock. I owned one in 30-06 for a while and 7 mag recoil is only very slightly more. I didn't find recoil objectionable but after putting a limbsaver recoil pad on it recoil was reduced down to about 243 levels. If I were buying almost any rifle today I'd insist on one of the new high-tech recoil pads. They work very well.

300WSM does rattle the fillings.
I have a Limbsaver pad on mine....lengthened the pull by .5-.75 inch but a bid diff in recoil.
I drape a sandbag on my shoulder for bench shooting.

Although you will not notice the recoil in the field, you have already developed some response to what you have felt on the bench. If you have developed a flinch because of the recoil then in the field you will subconsciously flinch. It is already built into your reaction to shooting the gun.

A feather light 7 MM Mag is not a good idea in my view.

T3 Lite in .308 no issues. Don't understand kick questions, doesnt anybody shoot skeet anymore?

PS adjust your trigger down to 2 pounds, love it, took just a few min to do. Laughed the first time i pulled it, couldnt believe how light it was. :)

I have a T3 Light in .270 WIN, and the first time I took it to the range I was surprised at the amount of recoil. A Limbsaver helped immensely.
I can imagine the 7mm Mag will be much more intense than the .270... I'd definitely recommend looking at an aftermarket recoil pad.

I too hunt with the 308 version, and I consider it the max I would feel comfortable with as recoil from that light a rifle. 20% more power doesn't help much with 100% more miss ;).

It's a great rifle. I've got one in 30-06 with a limb saver recoil pad. Like everyone else is saying, it's not a great pleasure to shoot off a bench. But it's not so bad that you wont have fun shooting groups. At least in 30-06.

I think you would be really happy with it if you got one, it's basically an ideal hunting rifle.

Ive taken 2 roe bucks with a Tikka T3. Most comfortable rifle ive ever used. It just seems to fit right into me and goes on target effortlessly.
