Tikka T3 Lite 25-06 synthetic stock question

I was just wondering if any of you have this particular rifle how much is your barrel floated? Mine has the sides of the forearm with a pretty good gap on each side back as far as about 2 or 3" but then seem to be almost touching the rest of the way back. a dollar bill will slide back but just barely I'm not even sure if it's going all the way back to the lug. how far back is the lug anyone know? I'm thinking I may have to relieve the sides of the stock some but, wanted to check with you folks first. It for sure is tighter than it was when I first got the gun a couple years ago. With Deer Season coming up in November in my area, I wanted to try and work up a load and sight it in but, wanted to make sure the stock was properly floated first. Thanks for all replies! :)

A dollar bill will pass all the way back on mine. It looks close in spots, but no contact. I do not have a 25-06, but do have a 243, 7mm-08 and a 6.5x55. The Swede wears wood, but the other 2 wear synthetic.

Will the dollar bill go back to the action?

A dollar bill goes back easily for about the first four inches but then begins to make contact and just keeps getting tighter the further I go. It feels like it might actually tear my dollar bill and to me, that's a scary thought. :D I think I will try removing the barreled action from the stock and replacing it and check again cause if I remember correctly, the barrel lug fits in the stock and is not, attached to the barrel so maybe somethings not quite lined up just right sure hope that's all it is. I know I've always heard the synthetic stocks aren't suppose to warp or swell. I guess if I have to though I will lightly sand some on the stock I just wanted to make sure that it is, suppose to float all the way back to the action which you have verified for me and I thank you very much, for taking the time to check yours for me. :)

Mine float all the way back. To me, the Tikka stocks are some of the best synthetics on the market for a factory stock. Sounds like you need to take it apart and do some sanding. That should fix your problem.

Well, I took the stock off gave it a little sanding and all's well now. so, I can begin working up a few loads to try as soon as the weather permits. Thanks Again! :) I've got it torqued at 25"lbs right now but may have to play with that a little.
