Tikka 25-'06

Went to the gun store yesterday to pick up a Remington 700 ADL in .243 and walked out with a Tikka model 695 Deluxe synthetic in 25-'06. It was on sale for about $450. Rifle seemed well put together, the action was smooth, and the trigger broke cleanly at 3.5#. The barrel was free floated and it has a detachable polymer magazine. Quality appeared excellent and the gun store owner praised them. The barrel was not a heavy barrel but was stouter than most standard barrels. Has anyone had any experience with these Tikka's. The gun store guy said that they are made by the same people who make Sakos. The trigger can be adjusted down to about 2# as well. What do you all think.

There have been a few threads here on Tikkas. You'll never hear a bad word about your Tikka, and you're going to be amazed at its accuracy. It's not just made by the same people that make Sako, it's made in the same facility. They're great rifles, and for $450, you just can't do better!!

With a good scope, you should expect under 1 m.o.a. accuracy.

The rifle will serve you well, but the choice of caliber was,IMHO, where you made your better choice. Much more varsatile, especially in the heavier (120 gr.) bullet weights.

As I mentioned in the other posting, I own a .223 Tikka and have owned several Remington's over the years. I think Tikka has better overall quality control and are more consistently accurate rifles. The Remington's with detachable mags are not nearly as nice as the Tikka if a detachable mag is an important feature.

Even though they are a little more expensive I would invest in the Tikka scope rings. I like them better than the Milletts that a friend of mine uses.
