Tight clearances?

When I go to eject the empties from my 629 they stick. When I mean by sticking I actually have to forcibly tap the ejection rod to force them out. It happens with factory and reloads. What would cause this? Anybody else ever have this happen to them?

Swirl some steel wool in the chambers (or crocus if you have it).

You can also polish the chambers with a new cleaning mop with automotive polish chucked in your favorite cordless drill. some say that you can use tooth paste (non gel type) but I have not tried it.

UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING, BE REALLY CAREFUL FOLLOWING ANY OF THE PREVIOUS DIRECTIONS. One slip with a power tool and you may regret it. A smith probably wouldn't charge much to do the polishing work for you. How old is this gun and what caliber? ddt

Thanks for the advice so far. I got it new in 98 and its a 44mag. Right now I'm overseas and I just found out that my wife was shooting it recently and a couple of the case wont even come out now. She cleaned it the best she could and put it up till I get home in 2 weeks. After the empties are ejected new rounds slide in with no problems.

Sounds like the cylinder's chambers are too BIG. :(
Get her to send it to S&W and by the time you get back it'll have a new cylinder & be perfect ! :)
