Thunderwear or SmartCarry

Thunderwear or SmartCarry?

The question is "How much difference is there between the two?"
Has anyone here tried both?
I think it's time to try one or the other, but which one?
They are identical as far as I can tell.

Smartcarry by far. The difference is the material on the underside of the holster. Smartcarry uses a special fabric that wicks away moisture before it reaches your pistol.

Bought a Thunderwear. Tried it on once. Returned it. Just not comfortable for me to carry that way and I didn't have any interest in trying to get used to it.

Smartcarry. It has a 60 day guarantee if you dont like it send it back. The trick is to wear it lower on your hips. I like it better than my IWB holster.

Smart Carry here too! My only comment is that it puts the weapon in deep concealment and it takes a bit to get it out quickly. Other than that I even use it as a concealed wallet when I fly.

I have two Smartcarrys, and I am a walking SC commercial. The best system I've used in 25 years of carrying concealed. The best. I can't speak to Thunderwear, as I have never tried one. Charlie Parrot is the best. He'll always treat you right.

Use the search feature here, smartcarry.

Wow!
Am I on the right board ?
Everyone is in agreement here so far. hehehe

Thunderwear is a better name! I think I need some just so I can say I'm wearing Thunderwear! :D

But seriously, I'm going to try Smart Carry.

I like that they offer a guaranteed trial, since I"m not sure if it would work for me.

I don't like either. I realize that the dangers are minimal if you're smart about which "condition" whatever gun you carry is in, but I just can't get over where the barrel of the gun points if I were to wear one of those things.

It points uninterrupted at the ground--so? If you try it, you'd see there is a right way to wear it so it wont point at anything else.

Ive seen IWB holsters where the gun points at a critical artery in the thigh--fatal if shot.

Smart Carry is the first holster I've tried. I dress very lightly and was very surprised the first time I put it on, especially since I lost most of my hope once it arrived in the mail.

I've never heard of thunderwear. Sounds funny. Maybe it's good. But I can't see many fixes to the Smart Carry holster that would make it better. Maybe a thinner lower seam so it's not so stiff?

I have a Thunderwear that I've used on occasion to carry a Colt Cobra snubby .38 and a S&W 6906. The Smith was a bit large comfort-wise, but it did conceal it. The Colt was comfy and disappeared.
The Thunderwear is best when worn with dress pants or cargo type shorts, not so much with jeans.
As far as SC, I can't say.

You're probably right, but it's probably more of a psychological thing that makes me averse to it, not a strictly rational fear.

I've seen the IWB worn stuff you're talking about, now that really makes me cringe a bit when I think of carrying that way. Granted, guns don't just "go off" like so many believe, but if I can avoid having a loaded gun point at something critical, I do.

I thought they were pretty much the same thing.

Don't get too caught up in this. I wear mine for 2 hours and by the time I take it off it looks as if my pistol has sweat glands.

It's a great holster though.

I'm a little curious about how you draw from these things.

Seems like I'd have to unbuckle my belt and loosen my jeans to get the gun out, and that's not my idea of "smart" carry. It has to be available to draw fairly quickly?

you leave your pants a notch or so larger buckled (just to give an inch or so more room, just like if you were wearing an IWB) weak hand pulls the belt out, strong hand reaches in and grabs the pistol. Pretty quick actually.
