Thumb-Cock H&K USP Compact?

On the USP Compact variants which have no hammer spur, can you still easily thumb-cock the gun to single-action somehow? Thanks.

On the ones that aren't DAO you can, but I wouldn't say it can be done easily. The bobbed hammer spur isn't all that easy to get at. It would be even more difficult if you were in a hurry because of a stressful situation.

Trying to do it one handed is difficult and dangerous.

Using both hands, it is very easy and safe. You simply lightly squeeze the trigger and thumb it back.

Just carry it cocked and locked. Lowering the safety is far faster and less fumble prone than cocking the hammer.

I've done it, with the gun unloaded, of course.

Pull the trigger back slightly until the gun is at half-cock, then release the trigger slowly. You can then pull the trigger back from half-cock.

Please do this someplace safe, as I've not done it with a round in the pipe.

I can thumb-cock mine as long as the hammer is at the decocked-at-rest postion, but certainly not when it's all the way down. However, I have only dared to try this with an unloaded pistol. I'm not sure I'd want to do it with a loaded gun. If you really want this capability, you should probably either have serrations cut into the hammer or better yet retrofit your gun with a spur hammer (available according to HK).

I do it on a loaded gun daily.

Fully decocked will put the hammer all the way in the slide and you can't get to it without a screwdriver. Don't bother, but at half-cock I can pull it down with my thumb. Another option is to pull the slide back a little bit, as if you were checking the chamber for a loaded round (not a bad idea), and this will cock the hammer.

All I needed to know about H&K gun handling, I learned from Jet Lee. I saw him cock the hammer on an H&K USP in a movie and HAD to figure out how to do it.

Of course you can.

One option is to have a full-sized hammer installed.

If you prefer the bobbed hammer, it is still easy. First, make ABSOLUTELY certain the safety is on, and the weapon is pointed in a safe direction. Then, pull the trigger - the hammer will retract, but will not fall or fire if the safety is on. Thumb the hammer back to full cock.

If you have the safety in the up position with the hammer down you can pull the trigger and the hammer will move to half position. Then grab it with your thumb and bring it back the rest of the way and you are c & l.
Don't try some of the bizarre statements here.

I've watched more than one movie where I heard the actor thumb-cock his Glock for dramatic effect. I just GOTTA figure out how they do that.
