Throwing brass

I'm in the process of working up a Glock 30 and have noticed something kinda strange. When shooting brass cased 230 grain ammo ejection is fine 3-5 ft to the right. 200 grain ammo will drop the brass almost straight down. The problem comes when shooting 165-185 grain stuff. It was throwing the brass back up in my face or bounching it off my hat. Why? No problems with CCI ammo except I would get a failure to go into battery about every 4th round. Any easy answers?

One possibility is that the ligher bullets, travelling at a higher velocity, is leading to flinching-like symptoms.
Try a firmer grip and see if it makes a difference.

I had this problem on my H&K. It turned out that the loads were underpowered. Once I moved up a few more tenths of a grain, they ejected safely to the right.
