Throated Barrel

What exactally does this mean, in regards to having it done on my SA1911A1? As it's only a range gun, and never likely to see many JHPs, is it something that I want to look at? How much does something like this cost?

Banzai, the only reason the pistol you describe would need to be throated is maybe as a resale point. Throating (and yours probably already is) is intended to open the little feed ramp found on GI barrels. The start out about 1/4" wide at the very bottom of the chamber mouth. Throating takes this "chamfer" from 9 o'clock to 3 o'clock. It is a great aid in feeding hollowpoints and semiwadcutters. George
