Thread a non-extended barrel?

Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but...

Is it possible to thread a standard pistol barrel and add an extender in between the suppressor and barrel? I have a SD9VE and would like to put a suppressor on it but I can't find a threaded barrel.

I could obviously sell it and buy something that's already threaded or buy something for which a threaded barrel is readily available. For what I paid for the S&W, it's worth a shot.

I have seen threaded barrel extensions but it's not common I don't think and buying a longer threaded barrel would be preferable..

don't ask me who does such work as I don't know but I do know they exist.

Not a dumb question at all. And I'll do my best to answer it.

For a threaded barrel, your best bet is always to find a factory or aftermarket barrel that comes threaded. If neither of those exist, there are companies that can weld a permanent threaded extension to the standard-length barrel. Check out Tornado Technologies in Oregon, they're one of the most well-known and well-respected companies that offer this service.
