Thoughts on the savage mkII F

Ive been looking for a bolt .22, this one seems fun but I want minute of golfball @ 50yds or minute of baseball at 100 yards. Will this work? If not do you have any suggestions on what will, I am thinking about a CZ455 as well.

I have a Savage Mk II Tactical with the Accutrigger, it's phenomenally accurate. Pick some CCI's (mine likes the Mini-Mags) and get to work. :D

Personally, bolt action .22's are only interesting when targets get real small or the range gets real long and pretty much bore the heck outta me all other times. Golf balls at 50 and baseballs at 100 are not what I call real small targets nor the ranges you are talking being real far away. My guess is that about any fair shooter with a Savage MK will make hits with boring regularity. Now maybe you just tossed in golfballs and baseballs as a point of reference but when ever I think things like that I think plinkin. Plinkin at the ranges you speak of cry out for a Ruger 10/22 or one of the rimfire AR clones. Nothing against the Savage and if I was gonna get another rimfire bolt it would more than likely be a Savage.

I have one of the MKII TR's and it is very accurate. I was making hits on steel out at 350 yds with it a few weeks ago. Now that is fun. Mine likes the Wolf match ammo, but a close second is Remington Target, which I shoot most.

I only want a bolt .22 to have fun and keep ammo costs low. With a bolt .22 you can shoot 1000 rounds and it may take all day. And yes, golfball and baseball were just refrences, I want to plink/hunt rabbits & birds with it. But I am very open to other .22s

I picked up an MKII-FV about a month ago, as a host weapon for my Outback II supressor and enjoy the heck out of it. It easily outshoots me. From 50 yds it is not uncommon for 3 out of 5 holes to be touching/overlapping each other. From 75 yds (the farthest I can shoot in my back yard) it'll pick off spent shotgun shells. I'm quite sure the minute of golf-ball that you require will be no issue from those distances (if not farther). They truly are fine shooting little rifles.

"...about any fair shooter with a Savage MK will make hits with boring regularity.."

Yeah, sounds about right. One inch groups, when I do my part, at 100 yds walks the fine line of challenging and realistic. The MK II is a fine rifle and will definitely suit your intended purposes.

Not a fan of the stock on the Mark II F... I would opt for the Mark II G with the wood stock.. The savage mark II is a great platform, and I really enjoy mine..

I have a Savage MkII that I bought for my wife to learn on. It has a big problem with not wanting to eject spent cases. Google searching led me to understand this is a common issue with this rifle.
Otherwise, the thing seems to be super accurate at 50yards with both Federal bulk ammo and CCI stuff.
