Thoughts on Kahr PM45

I'm just curious what some of you guys think about the Kahr PM45 and the Kahr PM line in general. I shot one yesterday and I'm curious to see if my thoughts match up with what some more experienced shooters think of it. I should mention I do have the opportunity to own the one I shot, it is several years old but it is not even broken in yet.

I really like my PM9. It is easy conceal and to shoot and accurate as well. If I ran across a PM45 or even another PM9 at the right price I wouldnt hesitate to pick up another.

I had one for about a year. I really loved the concept, it was smaller than the Springfield DXs and way way smaller that the G36. mine took about 400 rounds break-in before it would fire three magazines in a row without a feeding jam; it was surprisingly soft shooting. I eventually sold it off because it was scantly smaller than a G26 and only half the ammo. if you just have to have a mini .45acp it is deserves a close look.

I really like mine. Recoil is a little stout but controllable. I only have about 400 rounds through mine but it has been 100% reliable.

I have one and like it. I pocket carried one for an entire summer when they were fairly new on the scene. Like others have said I’d rather carry something barely bigger that is higher capacity too.

I got a PM9 many years ago and when I saw one come up used a few years ago, snagged it. Almost snagged another a few months ago. I have a CW40 and a CW45 and both are good reliable pistols. If it checks the boxes you need, I would not hesitate to recommend it.

You guys are definitely mirroring a lot of what I took away from shooting it. I thought the overall build quality and construction was very nice. I liked the way it shot, recoil was a bit strong, but I think that's to be expected when you are shooting .45acp out of such a small gun. Trigger pull was long, but I really don't mind a long trigger pull as long as it's light and smooth, which it was. This one still needs broken in, its very tight, has maybe only 150 rounds through it, so with time the trigger will probably get even smoother. I'm more a fan of 9mm than .45, but that's not a deal breaker or even a negative, it's just not a plus. I'm glad to hear that everyone is pretty much on the same page with it. I have a few others I'm going to look at, but this PM45 is now a strong contender. Thanks everyone!

Kahr may have fixed the feeding issues as of late, but the earlier model 40 and 45's had a lot of problems as the original K9 mechanism was designed for 9mm dimensions.

Thought about a Shield 45?

Not a 45, but a 9MM CM9 in my accumulation. As with my Kahr pocket 9 the CM does everything the PM does, does it every bit as good, and cost a whole lot less because you're not paying for unnecessary upscale frills!

I've owned a CM9 for years, carried it for a while, and it's always been reliable.

My understanding, however, is that the .45ACP and .40SW versions don't have the same reputation for reliability as the 9mm versions. Perhaps someone here can shed more light on that.
