Thoughts on Beretta 8045 Couger?

Since Beretta took such a strong stance against the gun control Nazi's, I would like to give them some business. I know They produce fine firearms as I have had some in the past.

I'm thinking of purchasing a 8045 Couger. Does anyone have any information or experiance with this fire arm. I'm used to the .45 ACP round but mostly out of the 1911 platform. Does anyone have any thought on this weapon?

Thanks for in advance.

The August 1998 issue of Shooting Times did a whole 4 page article on it. Here is the jist of it.
The author said that the 8045 was very comfortable to shoot. He ran 1500 rounds of various factory loads and not one malfunction or jam. The best group he averaged was 2.13" at 25 yards with Supreme SXT 230gr.
Here's a quote from him.
"The .45 Cougar proved very pleasant to fire. The short-stroke, rotary-barrel action was immediately apparent and feels distinctly different compared to a conventional Browning tilt-lock .45 ACP (such as the Model 1911)."
The Cougar line is still made in Italy so the quality will be a *bit* better.

I own a cougar 8045 and have been very pleased with it. Its into the 1500 round range now and has never failed to function properly. It has great ergonomics and it very comfortable to shoot. The only possible drawback to it is that it a wide grip - so if you are small handed or looking for a ccw it might not be ideal.

I got mine at a gun show for 500.00

I really enjoy the Cougar 45. Very reliable, and more accurate than I am. Fits in my hand really well too.

OTISZ, I have both the 8040 and the 8045, The 8040 is my everyday shooter. I like them alot and have experienced no problems. I purchased the 8045 in the Cat Pak promo and have not shot that one yet? Don't know that I will.
Sometime in the future I plan to purchase the 8000 9mm to round out the collection. I believe that they are good pistols for the money. Hope this helps :)

Happy Shooting :)

Otisz,
I have had a Cougar .45 for about a year, it's my car gun. My experience pretty much echos Deacons - very reliable (eats everything) and acurate, good ergonomics, fit & finish and workmanship are comparable to my SIGs. The only thing I don't care for is the slide mounted safety/decocker, but overall, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend one to a friend. Go for it!
Best regards, M2
