Those cheap AIM surplus Hi Powers.....

Picked up two surplus Hi Powers awhile back from AIM, one a 69 T model and the other a 90 MK3. Both were well worn on the outside but very good inside. I put about 500 rounds through both with zero FTF and after taking the mag safeties out, the triggers were just fine.
Stripped the T model and sent the slide, frame, trigger, hammer, safety and slide release to Fogles for reblueing. I sent the MK slide and small parts to Precision Blueing and the frame to Accurate Plating and Weaponry. I had Novaks put their sight on the T and input the LPA adjustable sight on the Mk. Not sure Im staying with he LPA sight, I'll shoot it awhile and decide. Finally got everything back and put together. Here's the before and after.

They look nice. I picked one of those up too, can't decide if I want to go with novaks or just keep the originals.

"Experienced"............I like that.
I have 2 FNs, 2 Argys, an Indian, a Kareen, and an Inglis. They all have that "experienced" look. Next in line is a nice WWII German issue.

Life's too short to own ugly guns! I would have done the same thing you did - that Hi-Power looks fantastic, and I bet it shoots like a champ. The only think I would have done differently was keep the original safety and sights. The newer safety makes the gun look like a newer model. These aren't big deals, I'm sure you can always put the old parts on if you want.

I also like your choice of grips. on the T-Series.

While I enjoy looking at the collections of others, I am not a collector and have no interest in it for myself. And with those ugly import billboards on the frame, i can't see either of these guns as ever having any collectors value. But then I also seriously doubt I could ever get out of them what I have in them. Which is why I just get my enjoyment out of putting them together and shooting them.
The MK3 is my first two tone.
Many years ago, Ross Seyfried won the ISPC World Championship with a Colt Gov Model. I saw a pic of him and that Colt in a issue of Gun and Ammo. I looked at that two tone 45 and thought that right there was the ultimate carry gun. Never thought it would take me this long to come up with my own blue/chrome gun.,

....gross

i'll take the pretty girls and pretty guns, I would ditch the punisher grips, but they look very nice. not sure which I like best, probably the plated though. good job on both

Always nice to see Hi Power pictures! Those look great.

I also got a surplus Hi Power last year. Found a Mk III with a Browning rollmark that somehow ended up overseas then imported back here. Lots of "experience" on the epoxy finish but very light wear internally. I think I'll keep her that way, though nothing wrong with refinishing like you did.

I like the refinished versions, look great, I've got to find me some Novaks for mine here eventually.

The finished products look great. I have a Mark III and a T series that was reblued prior to me owning it. I have thought of sending the T to Don Williams and having it tuned up with night sites and extended safety etc. Nice work on yours.
