Thompson Contender Forends

The short forend for up to 10" and perhaps 12, depending on what generation you have, should have one mounting hole. Just check to see if this is what you have. From what I'm understanding, you should be okay. At 14", they jump to two holes but spacing from the hole closest to the frame, should be the same. You say that you have an 8" barrel. By any chance does it have a choke or muzzle break.
Not fully understanding how you are coming up with 8".
Again, you should be okay. .... :)

MJ30Wilson - yes, the octagon barrel forearm fits the 8" barrel as well as the 10" and 6" barrel. Does your forearm have a screw hole in it to mount it to the barrel? If not, it's the early snap-on type that requires a special ball stud to fasten it to the barrel.

Pahoo - T/C made 8" and 6" octagon barrels as well as the common 10" length barrels. The shorter length barrels tend to be early model octagons. Story has it the shorter length barrels were made from 10" factory mistakes and short sections of left over barrel material. 6" barrels are rare, 8" rarely seen. As far as I know, outside of the TCA specials, no bull barrels were made in the shorter lengths.

Good to know and thanks for the info. I'm all that familiar with the earlier octogon barrels. Thanks again ... :)

By the specials, I think you might be refering to the special runs that were available throught the The Contender Collector's Associatoin or something like that. I was a member for about five years and we got fliers about these, on a regular basis. In all that time, I never saw a round bull barrel less than 10" in there regular catalog. It would not surprise me to see some of these from time to time.

As Pahoo said - T/C custom shop would make special runs of barrels for sale to the Thompson Center Association members. A TCA special will have the TCA emblem either engraved or stamped on the side of the barrel. A shortie bull should be 6 1/2" long. A shortie octagon should be 6" long. Thing about T/C barrels is you never know what you may find. T/C was good about running non-production listed items out the back door.
