if it doesn't have the easy opening frame I think TC used to convert the frame to the easy opening frame. also some barrels will be more difficult to open than others. TC has good customer service or at least until S & W bought them. look at their website and contact them.

does it have the one piece or two piece locking lug? going to the 2 piece lug will also help

Ghosts of the past !!

This often comes up on Contenders. If you do a history search, you will find a number of posts and replies on this problem. Usually it varies from barrel to barrel. One time it's fine and next, not so. Have not encountered this problems much, on Encores. If indeed it's on a Contender, then the usual problem is the locking lugs on the bottom of each barrel, not clearing the frame. You can send the barrel back to the factory or address the fix, yourself. Not a difficult fix.. .... ;)

If it does this with more than one barrel, then it's the frame,if you want TC will convert it to an easy open for a fee. if it is hard with one barrel only then it's the lugs that need work.I still have one of the old frames that was not redone.Of the 20 some barrels I've had over the years I've never needed to have any of them worked over, but have seen a few that others have.
