Thompson center scopes

I recently bought my first hunting rifle (A t\c icon) I need to put some optics on it but am getting laid off from work next week. Are the t\c scopes ok to put on my rifle or will I be doing it a great dis-service. I have a couple of 3-9x t\c scopes laying around so I wouldn't need to drop any more cash if the will be decent enough. For the record I still need to take hunters safety, so I don't really need the setup right now but I am pretty eager to shoot it. Again I am very inexperienced with scopes but the glass looks clear but figure many of you are much more knowledgeable on the subject at hand, so I ask for advice.

Buddy of mine just bought a TC Venture 308 with matching scope. The gun shop guy told him the scope that comes with the rifle is a Bushnell marked TC. Dunno if they are all made by Bushnell. He likes it but says the reticle is too wide. Too wide for him, might be just right for someone else. :)

I am unsure of who makes them but I have three on in camo and two black ones and I am fairly certain the 2 black ones are from different makers they do have a different taper and one of the 2 has a nitrogen port while I don't see that on the other. The scopes were bought at different times.

Many years ago I mounted TC's 2X7 pistol scope on my 30 Harett (poor spelling) contender. It's nothing but excellent. I can consistently hit soft drink cans at 200 yards with it. I don't know who makes T/C's scopes. Maybe you can call them and ask then let TFL posters know you results.

I work at t\c, I will ask on monday who makes the scopes but I highly doubt I will get a honest answer. Also I would venture a guess that it may have changed one or more times throughout the years. especially since S&W bought Thompson

T/C SCOPES

My old friend clyde e. Fischer (rip) did prototype testing for t/c during the days when mr. Center & mr. Thompson still owned the company. Clyde told me the scopes were made by "simmons" and they were at the very high end of the quality scale. In other words, simmons did not scrimp on the quality.

Do not know if this is still true, but here is another secret: Burris makes the scopes sold under the "pentax" name !!!!!!!
