Thompson Center rifles

Does anyone here have any experience with Thompson Center's Encore rifles? I can't really seem to find a whole lot of info about them, besides what's on the TC website. They appear to be able to freely switch between different calibers, providing that you buy a barrel. The reason I'm looking at them is I'm interested in the 300 Whisper, and TC is the only manufacturer that I can find who chambers for this round. For those with experience, what kind of accuracy can I expect? Is changing calibers really as easy as it sounds? Does anyone know of another manufacturer (with a reasonable price) that chambers for the Whisper?

My dad has had one for a few years that he purchased as a pistol and now has set up in a rifle configuration (.223). Changing calibers IS simple-simply remove and replace the barrel and you're ready to go. The triggers on these weapons are great, and his is the most accurate rifle I've ever fired at 100yds. I can usually put 3-5 rounds under 1MOA quite easily. The only disadvantage to these guns is the cost of new barrels. Frankly, you can almost buy a new weapon for the cost of their barrels (around $260 for stainless rifle barrels). That said, there are many advantages to having one action and trigger pull that you know well. As for the .300 whisper, I've only seen it on an AR-15 platform. Assuming that it is available, the Encore is probably your cheapest route to getting set up to shoot the Whisper.

I have an Encore in the 209X50 Muzzleloading configuration
..I love it..I am currently waiting for a10" 7mm benchrest Barrel for it and pistol grip and forend..there are several places to buy a .300 whisper barrel for it...just do a search for the .300 whisper..also try SSK industries..the home of J.D. jones..the guy that invented the Whisper cartridges.
hope this helps
