Hi -

I handled one of these (.30-'06) at a local shop, and I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge of or experience with this rifle?

In particular, the fore-end on the rifle seems to slide fore-and-aft just slightly at the end of the opening/breaking motion - is this normal?

I did not have the time to really investigate this, and even the knowledgeable fellow behind the counter wasn't sure.

I have done a search about this, but I am really interested in first-hand experience with this rifle.

Thanks for any information you might be able to share -

The TCR 83, and the 87 were generally well regarded rifles, and interchangeable barrels are still available, although you'll have to search a while for them.

IIRC they stopped production for three reasons; they were expensive and the market wasn't big enough to support them, there was a fire in the TC factory and a good amount of the tooling was lost in the fire, and lastly, TC already had plans to introduce the Encore and really push the Contender rifles.

I would be hesitant to buy one unless it was a great price and if you have a chance to shoot it before purchase.

Thanks for the reply and the information.

I don't know about the possibility to shoot the rifle prior to purchase.

Is there a reason that you recommend that?

Best -
