The 30TC

Looking at a Thompson Center Icon Rifle in 300 Win Mag but found the 30 TC to be of interest. Any 30 TC shooters out there?

Does the Data Speaks for Itself?

Is this is One Mean Cartridge?

T/C and Hornady teamed up to create the 30TC...

It’s a .30 caliber medium action cartridge with the velocity and knock-down power of a 30-06 cartridge.

Its optimized case geometry and advanced propellants exceed 30-06 ballistics performance in a medium action case.

The 30TC requires 25% less powder than a 30-06 cartridge resulting in 15% less recoil.

Specifically designed for Thompson/Center’s ICON bolt action rifle.
 
It seems to have been a flash in the pan cartridge, at least around here.

No other major manufacturer have produced firearms in that cartridge.

To make matters worse, it is expensive to shoot factory ammo, and it is not all that easy to find - compared to so many other similar cartridges.

To make it cheaper to shoot, you'll need to reload and find some brass, but you'll have a very difficult time replicating factory velocities as the powder used by Hornady is proprietary.

So, IMO its not worth it.
