FBI Criticizes Jefferson as "Paranoid Right-Wing Extremist"
Assimilated Press -- Paranoid right-wing extremist groups threaten domestic
terrorism as the new millennium dawns, the FBI said last week.
In a report titled "Project Megalo," the FBI singled out a number of individuals who incite anti-government sentiment, including well-known tax-protester and guns dealer Tom Jefferson.
The FBI quotes Jefferson as saying, "[W]hen a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a design to reduce [the people] under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is
their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security."
While Jefferson has not called for violence outright, the FBI believes such activism may contribute to overt patriot acts. Project Megalo states, "Jefferson is obviously a conspiracy theorist who believes the U.S.
government is out to destroy American traditions. Speculation like his
only serves to fuel the already existing paranoia of militia and patriot groups."
The FBI would not comment on how long the agency has been investigating Jefferson.
The First Lady said in response to the report, "Jefferson is a prime example of what happens when people wrongly blame the government for social problems. While not directly responsible for the Oklahoma City bombing, right-wing extremism clearly contributes to a culture in which such
tragedies are more likely. Contrary to Jefferson's language of hate, the government is here to help people."
In patriot literature, Jefferson has accused the federal government of "repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute tyranny over the states."
Jefferson continues to blame the FBI for the deaths at Waco, Texas. David Koresh, the leader of the Waco cult, was accused of sexual child abuse and gun trafficking. Jefferson claims the government "obstructed the administration of justice," "affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the civil power," and protected federal agents "by a mock trial, from punishments for any murders which they should commit on the inhabitants of these states." Jefferson adds that the federal government has "burnt our towns and destroyed the lives of our people."
FBI agents Lowell Breeh and Don Boriuchi called Jefferson's claims "exaggerated and ludicrous." "Jefferson's obvious paranoia can only serve to incite unjustified resentment against the federal government," Boriuchi added.
Jefferson also "sees demons" in the IRS and regulatory agencies, Project Megalo said. In an anti-government speech, Jefferson said the federal government "has erected a multitude of offices, and sent hither swarms of officers to harass our people, and eat out their substance."
Noted psychologist Mary Powers said, "Jefferson's exaggerated rhetoric is
clearly the sign of a man with a lot of pent-up aggression. He feels he needs to blame duly appointed government officials for real -- or perceived -- social problems."
The President has said he will call upon Congress to grant the FBI a larger budget and broader powers in order to counter the potential terrorist acts inspired by right-wing extremist groups.

media might treat Thomas Jefferson if he were alive today. Government officials and recent graduates of government schools may not realize that the "Jefferson" quotes are from the Declaration of Independence.
The FBI in fact recently issued a report titled, "Project Megiddo," in which the agency accused Gun Owners of America Executive Director Larry Pratt and others of helping to "fuel the already existing paranoia of militia and patriot groups." Pratt is "guilty" of daring to defend the
Second Amendment of the United States Constitution. Some argue that the leading source of domestic violence in America is the FBI itself, which participated in such tragedies as Waco and Ruby Ridge.
