This is what I get for buying a new S&W

About five months ago I purchased a new sw9ve. I still don't know why I did it. I was at a dealer where there was a *&* factory show.Factory reps were there showing the guns, and these pos guns on sale. Since then the gun has been back to the factory two times, and should be there now. The only reason it isn't, is that I am tired of dealing with them. It has a habbit of dropping partially loaded magazines while firing. Not exactly a good feature for a gun advertised as a personal defense weapon. They have been unable to fix the problem, and I don't think that they can, or even care to. I was going to sell it to a dealer, real cheap, and disclose the problem. Unfortunately, I purchased two hi-capacity and two spare ten round mags for it, and have too much in it to sell cheap. For that reason it will sit in the back of the safe, out of sight. Just seeing it makes me mad. I could have bought a good gun like a Glock or Beretta for a little bit more. *&* says that the magazine problem with this gun is unique. I would like to hear from anyone else who has had a similar problem with a sw9ve.
Thank you
MR.G

Oh boy...you thought the problems you had with the gun are bad... admitting that you bought a new S&W in these forums is likely to bring a world of hurt down on you

/me runs and hides from the flames that are coming this way

Hmm, well

I bought a brand spanking shining new Smith & Wesson 4003TSW, and have about 2000 rounds through it so far. No malfunctions at all. Use it as my primary carry. So there.....

*Shame on you for buying it.*

Now that we have that out of the way, send it back until it's fixed or they refund your money. Be as nice as possible, but DO NOT give in. If you do sent it back in, make sure you don't pay for the shipping. You bought it as a usable gun, and that is what they owe you.

If you just stop where you're at, then they have won... and you have lost.

I will admit that I have not heard of that problem; the main complaint with those pistols seems to be a horrible trigger pull. I can't believe a problem like that could not be fixed in a few minutes. I agree with the idea of selling it and disclosing the problem; the high cap mags alone would make it attractive.

Ask them to provide a new gun for you. When the Sigma .380 came out I had a brain fart and bought one. A roll pin get backing out of the gun. I sent it back to the factory twice. When they got it the second time they sent me a brand new one as a replacement. I sold it a few months later to buy something else.

For the same money you could have had a nice CZ75.

For less money or about the same, you could have had a nice Ruger (plus a $40 rebate until the end of Dec), or a CZ40.

problem

The problem is NOT that you bought a Smith and Wesson, the problem is that you bought a Sigma. That is like saying you really messed up buying Ford just because you bought a Pinto. There is a black sheep in every family, Sigma is blackest.

I dont want to get blasted for this, but have you checked to make sure that you're not hitting the mag release as you shoot? I've seen this happen quite a bit on certain pistols. Just a suggestion!

They tried to tell me that I was probably hitting the mag release. So I made another trip to the range, fired 150 rounds, being real careful not to hit the release. The mag dropped six times. I was mad, and called S&W c.s. from the range, and told them that it was not the problem. Was told to send it in again. Again was told that this was not a common problem with the Sigma. Have never had a problem with any of my older S&W models, and love all my old S&W revolvers. Sigmas just suck!

Mr. G,

I'm sorry about you buying a S&W Sigma pistol. My roommate had bought one in .40 caliber and I bought a CZ75 in .40.

We went to the range on a cold snowy day and my CZ75 performed flawlessly as it has for over 700 rounds now. His Sigma had numerous failure to fire problems, but no dropping of magazine. He has long since traded his Sigma off.

A few days prior to that when I was purchasing the CZ, I had pointed out to my father a Sigma that my friend had bought. The saleman told me that I had a much better deal. And he was right.

I love S&W revolvers and I have a 629 (that I purchased a month prior to what is known in gun circles as "The Sellout"), but I haven't found a S&W auto I liked yet.

True, sigmas are crap...but Smith does make some great autos...the 6906/3913 for instance.....also, stay away from their no frills versions of the 3913 (i think it's the 908...very poor fitting, finish and same problem with mag)...

Sell the Sigma cheap like you planed on, and then sell the high-caps seperate. You shouldnt lose too awful much that way.
