This is what happens when I stay up too late

My mind wanders onto some strange terrain as the witching hour approaches. I started thinking about two handguns (and only two). The one I most regret selling and the one no longer produced that I most wish I bought.

for me they are:
Selling: a S&W 547 4" 9mm revolver

not buying: a Ruger single-six 5 1/2" .32mag with adj. sights

If you have a few minutes, share your thoughts and choices with the rest of us.

Good shooting and Happy Halloween to all :)

The gun I most regret selling is a Taurus 85b3. The 3" barell made shooting +p much easier. Compared to a 1 7/8" barell it is a dream.

Guns no longer in production I would like to buy, I would say a S&W CS9.

I have never sold a hand gun.

The gun I regret not buying was my grand-Father had LAR Grizzly that he decided to sell. At the time I did not have the money so he sold it to a pawn shop... It is no longer in the family. He had 4 different caliber conversions for it. including 357 magnum :(

Ironically,
- Selling - a 1st year 5.5" Ruger Single Six .32 Mag (bought new in 1984 for my own birthday:) )
- All time not buying (not a pistol) in 1990, GI (Inland) Documented M2 Carbine NIB - $750. Could pay for a good chunk of my daughter's graduate schooling with it now.
Pistol/revolver - in 1985 2nd Gen Colt SAA .44 Special - $350 yard sale.

I have no regrets on handguns sold. The ones tha tare gone are gone for a reason. Not that they were bad guns (some were great), they just didn't fill a role I needed or wanted.

There are 2 guns I'd like to have that are no longer made. #1 is a SS Buckmark Micro with 4" barrel and #2 would be an adjustable sight Ruger .32 H&R. I have a fixed sight 4 3/4" Ruger and am actually thinking of sending it off to have adjustable sights installed. For the OP, .327 Blackhawks are available and only sightly bigger.

Back in 1981 I was working at an outdoor store, and a guy brought in a 6" blue Colt Python .357 to put on consignment. 99% condition and still in the original box. His story was that when the Python was announced, he went to every gun store in town and got on a waiting list for one. He swore this Python was the first one ever to reach St. Louis for sale. It was serial #1011.

I'll probably start crying if I tell you how little I could have bought it for, but I just didn't have the money, and by the time I did, it was sold.

Regreted not buying K22 Smith Masterpeice in 1979. Bought a H&R Sportsman instead. Just got married and couldn't swing the extra cash. I think it was about $75 more:mad:

I don't know that I really "regret" selling any of them. Maybe the Smith & Wesson Model 19-4 that was my first handgun. Nice gun, but I saw something else I wanted more.

That I passed up? Well, just yesterday I passed up a really nice Model 27-2 in the presentation case, with all the tools, and papers. It would be nice to have, but I've got a "pre-27" so I just couldn't justify it.
