I finally picked up a S&W 500 Magnum.

This thing is Gigantic!!!

I’m no stranger to heavy recoil as I have been shooting my SRH 454 and DE 50ae for years but I must admit that I’m a little intimidated about shooting the 500 for the first time, I can wait to shoot it though.

I’ll be sure to let you guys know how it does and maybe take some comparison photos of it next to the Desert Eagle, SRH and 629.
 
I currently own a Super Red Hawk in .454 Casull with the 9.5in barrel. A relative has a 500 S&W. Next week we're gonna go shooting and hes gonna let me shoot his 500....I cant wait :D

Gixerman: That thing *is* gigantic. It's a good looker though. :) If you survive your first encounter with Gunzilla, then give us a detailed range report! :D
 
I'm sure you'll like your .500 s&w. a buddy of mine bought one a month ago and i've fired it several times with about 8 different loads and a few are pretty stout, but the gun is a riot to shoot and recoil was not nearly as bad as the hype and as i had imagined. the gun is solid and very well balanced so it was surprisingly comfortable to hold and shoot well. if you have been shooting a .454 for very long, i dont think the recoil of the .500 will be a problem for you at all. enjoy your new friend and let us know what you think of it. i hope to get one eventually (need to save up and i'm hoping the cost of ammo will came down some over time, so i'm holding out for now.)
