and is where we frequently shop for groceries:

It IS firearms related, as the scumbag criminal had a gun. Normally this daily-basis criminal activity doesn't phase me too much, but this is too close to home. The wife and I both have a CHL, and she carries her gun in her car, but never on her person. I want to get her into a better mindset, but she's somewhat disinterested in taking it much further than an occasional informal range session. Maybe this can be the catalyst for some further training. It also think it's time to pack bags and move out. This area is BOOMING fast, and what was once a bunch of rural areas is rapidly getting overrun with housing subdivisions, shopping centers and businesses.

Store parking lots are good hunting grounds for criminal types. After all, you've been shopping and now you've got several bags to put into the car. Your attention is on your task. Also, even though there may be lots of cars in the lot, there may not be many people. Bad stuff looks for a place to happen and parking lots are often the place! I'm eyeballing the other people all the time...they probably worry about me. :D

what a scum bag

Thats to bad we live in such a sick world.sorry glockamolie to hear about your area crime, but some people just really dont pay attention to there surroundings,, but hopefully your wife is aware of her surroundings, and what I call street smart.I hope she never needs her firearm. I also hope you can convince her to keep her weapon on her person .god be with your family and good luck

That's Houston for you

It is hard to believe how BAD this city has gotten recently.

Last night, we had the constables out to our neighborhood for the 6th time this year: some creeps busting caps out on the street.

Of course, the constable didn't find anything when he cruised around.

Our neighbors are now interested in us taking them to the range for some handgun familiarization.

Thank God we don't live in Chicago, D.C., New York, or California.

I tell my students that one reason parking lots are dangerous is that abduction activity looks very much like the normal activity in a parking lot: people getting into cars and driving away. If no one notices any particular commotion, everything looks normal.

Glockamolie, I hope you are successful in your efforts to persuade your wife to carry on her person!
