What single pistol would you not sell.Mine is a ruger security six ss 357 mag.The one i have owned the longest 1976.

I know I wouldn't sell my Springfield TRP 1911. I'd also be hard pressed to let my Ruger LCP go either, or my S&W 686 or my S&W 637 or my Ruger SP.

I guess I could let my Glock 22 go............ if I had to.

Sig Sauer 226.

I have a few other guns I truly like, but the Sig is the cat's meow. I point, shoot and it hits.....

In handguns I don't have any I am emotionally attached to.

Rifles though ;) I have 3 I couldn't sell. My .22 that dad bought me for my
10th birthday, my .223 which was the first gun I bought with my own money, and my first deer rifle, a .270.

The original poster said "pistol" so doesn't that exclude revolvers :p

Even though its a revolver, for me its my 686-3, pre lock. It sports the 6 in barrel and really, it can cover every reason I own and shoot guns. I would be content if that was the only handgun I could have.

My pistols, ranked in order from "won't sell" to "I am selling" to "I have already sold":

  1. Springfield XD9 Subcompact ~ I won't sell it. I've gone through a variety of carry guns and settled on this one. I shoot it as well as any other handgun I've ever owned, and it holds 13 rounds of Federal HST in a light and compact package. I'm sold.
[*]Springfield XD9 Tactical ~ Now that I have the subcompact, I have less need for this gun. But I'm going to buy a set of 9mm dies, and I don't want to experiment with reloads in my carry gun. It replaced my GP-100 as a winter "walk the dog" carry gun. Plus, it's exactly the same as the subcompact except for barrel and grip length.
[*]Ruger SP-101 ~ I'll probably never sell this gun because it is 100% reliable and I just know it too well. It's worth more to me than I imagine anyone would pay for it. Also, I now shoot it just as accurately as I ever shot my GP-100.
  2. Ruger MKII Competition Target ~ It's a great gun, but any reliable .22 plinker will do. I have just as much fun with my new $139 Savage 64 rifle. For the right price, I'd sell it.
[*]Ruger GP-100 ~ This is the gun I used to learn double-action shooting. It's up for sale on consignment at a local store, because I now shoot the SP-101 and both of the XDs just as well, and all of them are much easier to carry. Fantasic gun, though.
[*]Smith & Wesson model 10 ~ Great guns, but I sold one of mine, and gave the other to a friend because I liked the GP-100 better. Those two friends now own a fine handgun, so I don't regret it at all.
[*]Smith & Wesson J-frames ~ A 642 and a .38 Special model 60. I traded both of them in on my XD9 Tactical. They were always uncomfortable to shoot, but "bang, bang, click, bang, click" is not what I was looking for in a revolver. Good riddance. I really hate everything about these guns.

Handguns I cannot sell because they belong to my wife, but I would sell them in a heartbeat:
* Firestorm .22 ~ I bought it, she claimed it, and then we both wore it out. It needs an overhaul, but I'm not sure an overhaul is worth the money. It still functions great with high-velocity ammo, but chokes on bulk ammo. If it were mine, I'd trade it in for something that will last longer. Since it's hers, I'll probably trade it in for a new one just like it.
* H&R Sportsman .22LR ~ I like it OK, but I prefer semiautos for .22LR, and the double-action trigger binds up once in awhile. It's her gun, though, so it stays, even though she doesn't shoot it.
* Sig 226 9mm ~ I bought this for her, because she wanted a handgun with high capacity. It is a fantastic gun, but the double-action to single-action transition is something she hasn't expressed an interest in practicing. I have, and I know it's a great gun, but I prefer my two XDs. I would sell it because I already have two other 9mm handguns that I prefer.
