Thinking of trading my 9mm 1911

I have a Springfield 1911 in 9mm. I thought I would be able to shoot it better than my other 9mm's but I seem to just have accuracy issues with 9mm's in general, 1911 no exception. I only have one 45 and it's a Colt 1911. IN general I just shoot the 45 more accurately than the 9mm. Since I have 4 9mm's and only one 45, I am thinking of trading the Springer 1911 9mm for a compact 45 or subcompact (plus some cash, of course). Some of the guns I am considering for another 45 are Glock 30/36, M&P 45c.

Any other suggestions?

You haven't mentioned what your other 9s are. Maybe none of them are worth having.

I have several 9s that are accurate. What is it you are asking?

I have some experience with the glock 21, it's an awesome gun. Good magazine capacity low recoil and accurate. Pretty much covers it all as an all around good gun. For the price it's tough to beat. I've even used mine as an edc gun. In a hybrid kydex leather holster it's not comfortable but not bad for what it's is. As a range and home defense gun it's great.

Quite the contrary, I have a Sig P226, Walther PPQ and a Kahr PM9 all in 9mm

I am asking for suggestions for a compact 45 or subcompact, that should be pretty obvious from my post.

I thought about that, either a Glock 21 or Glock 30. At one time I had an M&P 45c and sold it, kinda wished I'd kept it.

No suggestion by a forum member will answer your needs...go rent a few pistols of various calibers and types and buy whichever you like best. Problem solved by you.

I think you have to go high end to get an accurate 9mm for whatever reason. By accurate I mean significantly better than combat accurate. HK USP Expert is the cheapest 9 I've found better than combat accurate. As a bonus you get a pistol engineered for the .40 and per manual unlimited +P+ ammo.

45 seems more intrinsically accurate and easier to find a less expensive and accurate weapon.

So there is my experience, apologies if I came across snarky.

Like others said, find a 45 you like. The suggestion I have is to advertise and sell the 1911 9mm yourself. If it is the good one with adjustable sights, they bring more money than the same model in 45 around here. A good 1911 9mm is hard to find and generally sell quick. You will make out better that way than trading it in. Good luck in your search.

Just wondering:
1. What size groups are you getting from the 1911 9mm Springfield (at what distance)?
2. What size groups are you getting now from your 9mm's (at what distance)?
3. What size groups are you getting from your 45 (at what distance)?
4. What kind of accuracy are you looking for?

Am I missing something? How could you possibly be more accurate with a .45 1911 than a 9mm 1911? What would be the mechanism for this discrepancy?

Why OP is more accurate with the 1911 45 than the 9mm? my guesses are:
1. Pistols liking/not liking the ammo being used; Not all my pistols group the same with the same ammo.
2. Build and finish of the pistols. The 45 might have a better barrel/slide/frame fit and better trigger than the 9mm.
3. OPs sensitivity to recoil (snap vs push). OP may react better to the push of the 45 than the snap of the 9mm.
