Thinking of some changes for Beretta 92FS

As the title states, I am considering making some changes to my Beretta. Primarily replacing the factory polymer parts with steel - guide rod and trigger. I am undecided on whether to lighten the trigger with the D-spring kit.

Was looking at a few different options from Brownell's, but am curious whether these mods are something that "any idiot can do," or if I would be better served having it done by a pro. Any hand-fitting to expect or would parts be pretty well "drop in?"
 
You should have no trouble fitting the 'D' spring and trigger kit that Beretta themselves sells... or just the 'D' spring. Same with the guide rod.

Go to the Beretta 92FS website and review the disassembly guide... that should give you an idea if you're up for it or will require the services of a 'smith.

Honestly the trigger was what I was most worried about attempting - the guide rod is pretty straightforward to remove:p

Typically any "handfitting" or filing required of the steel guide rods?
 
Well that's good to know, I was hoping it wouldn't be necessary.

Any other things that would be wise to add with the metal rod as opposed to the stock plastic? Frame should hold up fine, right?
