Thinking about a springer trp

Hello all I have questions about the springfield armory trp operator. I like everything about the gun except being able to carry it on a daily bases. So I ask what holsters would makenit better feel or what would a second option be for a carry 1911. I also highly like the s&w 1911 performance centers. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I personally have a stainless TRP and absolutely love it and would highly recommend one! I have 3000 rounds or so of factory ammo through it and not a single failure of any sort. I will also add that it is 'dead nuts' accurate. Shooting off hand at 10yds I consistently get 1 1/2" 5 shot groups (I'm not the greatest pistol shot in the world by any means, and I know the gun will outshoot me) I personally really like the grips, in that they're not too rough and give me very positive control over it. My hands could be soaked in baby oil and I don't think I would drop it. Some find the grips too course, but I have callouses and not 'secretary hands' so they work fine for me. The sights on them are also very appealing.

I used to use an old handmade holster my dad gave me that just went across the trigger guard and ejection port and kept it in the small of my back. I have since moved onto a Milt Sparks Executive IWB holster w/ FBI cant and it is absolutely fantastic. I don't have a single complaint about it. It is extremely comfortable and has excellent, very positive retention and draws smoothly. I can take off at a full sprint and would have no concern for the pistol 'hopping out' of the holster.

As a side note, I think I should also attest to Springfield's phenomenal customer service, in that I had disassembled the TRP completely for its yearly cleaning inside and out and somehow the magazine catch lock (the piece that holds the mag release in on the right side of the pistol, very tiny) grew legs and walked away. For the life of me I could find it nowhere on my bench, I swept the floor and sifted through the dust pan to no avail.

I called Springfield and explained my 'oops' moment and told them it was my daily carry (and favorite) piece and it was now a 3 pound paperweight. The customer service rep asked me for the part# on the disassembly diagram and said "Its ok, mistakes happen, we'll get that right out to you free of charge." The part was at my house Wednesday afternoon, and I called on a Monday morning!

Sorry for the story, but this event further solidified my 'feel good' about how much they stand behind their products and making their customers happy.

Had one. Really liked it other than the weight and super sharp front strap checkering.

A good lighter weight carry option would be the Springfield Champion Operator.

Had one as well, front strap was rough to the touch but not noticed while shooting.

An OWB holster is likely to be the most comfortable if you can use a cover garment, but a good IBW (Milt Sparks VMII or clone thereof) is a option you will quickly adapt to. After you carry a 5" 1911 with a good gun belt & holster for a few days you'll not notice it.

I only sold mine to finance another Wilson. Wish I'd kept it as it shot just as good as my other 1911's which cost twice as much. I did find the magwell to be a little large for my taste, and I swapped to a GI recoil setup as the two piece guide rod kept loosening.
