Thinking About A New Sig P239

So, is it as high-quality as I have heard?
I know my stuff when it comes to revolvers, but am a duck out of water when shopping for auto's.
My wife (the principle intended user) likes it; it fits well, recoil is not a problem, likes the trigger pull, likes the appearance, etc.
Other brands of 9mm's (Beretta, Glock, Bersa, Ruger, Brng) don't appeal to her as much.
All comments welcome!

I love mine, go for it! It has been utterly reliable, eats everything, is easy to maintain, & very accurate. The only thing I'd add are night sights a la Ashley Express.

Kframe,
I owned Sigs for a long time. Currently, I have the 228 and 226. I've owned the 220 and 230 in the past and sold them due to financial reasons. All I can say about Sigs is they great guns right out of the box. Reliable, great quality and workmanship. The only thing is the blueing, though I understand the 239 has a new blacken stainless coating which has better protection. I don't think you can go wrong with Sigs. Hopes this helps

I think it is the best all around compact on the market . I have let several people shoot mine , they all went and bought one . Good luck , Mike...

Is the P225 the same as the P239 but with a slightly longer barrel/slide?
What are the spec.s on the P228?

Oh, from what I've read, the Nitron finish is kinda like Glock's Tennifer, in that it is really hard, and really rust resistant.
MUCH better than bluing.

I've narrowed the search to the P239 in that it is pretty slim.
See, only the Sig single stacks fit my wife's hand well.

I'm not so concerned about only 8rds of 9x19, cause it's my general opinion that if the BG isn't down or gone by then I doubt another 2-4rds will help.
Thanks so far, keep 'em coming!

I'm a devout Sig fan. To me, you can't buy a finer gun. The quality control is excellent as well as the customer service. I have quite a few Sigs and have never had a problem with any of them and I think they are worth the money.

I recently picked up a P239 in .40. Excellent trigger pull, super smooth as to be expected. Fit and finish were up to par and EXTREMELY accurate for a .40, especially a small .40. First 8 shots from the gun went into a nickel-sized hole at 21 feet, 2inches at 50 feet. I'm not the greatest shot and the gun shoots as accurately as I can. Unnoticeable recoil as well.

If your wife likes it after handling and firing one, I think that's what's important. Whatever gun it is, the individual has to like how it handles, shoots, etc. As far as 9mm vs other rounds, I wouldn't worry about that. Shot placement is the most important thing to remember.

The P225 is an 8-round single stack 9mm that is slightly longer in length and height than the P239. Really fine gun. The P228 and P229 are double stack versions of the P225 and are a bit thicker in profile.

Sig now has two new finishes, Nitron and Ilaflon. Have to see how they hold up. The old K-Kote wasn't good at all and the normal bluing that Sigs have isn't the greatest. Rust isn't a problem if the gun is maintained properly but the blueing can rub off easily with some basic holster wear.

Reports of cracked frames occured on a few older P226 and P220. Those reports are gone now that Sig beefed up the guns to better handle +P ammo and such. Sig has been pretty good about addressing any problems that have occured with their products.

I really love my 9mm and my .357 SIG 239s. Both have Hogue grips and night sights. If it fits your hand you can't go wrong with a 239! Regards, Dennis

I cant believe you had to ask !

Of course, get the SIG !
(i thought it went without saying)

More gun laws are worthless, zero tolerence is the key !

The P239 is a great pistol and typically a SIG Sauer. First rate workmanship, fitting of parts and smooth DA/SA pulls. It doesn't fit my hands, however. ;( Thus I rely on other fine SIG Sauer products.

So many pistols, so little money.

I tend to favor the larger guns due to the size of my hand. I own several handguns from HK, Sig and Walther and i must say that I am impressd with the 239 (mine is 9mm).

Somehow, even though it is smaller it still fits my hand fairly well. I do not like the placement of the slide release as much as I do on the HK's but that is a small issue of familiararity with the Sigs in general.

One of the nice things abouth the 239 is that when I pull it up to the shooting position it very naturally point dead on target.

I would highly recommend the 239.
