think the illegal aren't breaking this country

I live in Florida, and FWIW......

Friends of ours, from out of state, come down to visit once a year and they like to spend a few hours at a local Flea Market. It's a big place and you will easily find 400-500 folks roaming the aisles at any one time. Maybe more.

In 2005, we went there and the population mix was what I would call "even", a healthy and balanced mix of various races and cultures.

This year we returned and the demographic shift was stark and eye opening.

The vast majority of the shoppers were Hispanic. If I had to venture a guess, I would say 80%-85% Hispanic.

Now, I am not a Hispanic basher by any means, for after all, with Florida being full of retirees, we need folks who are willing to do some work around here in this heat. Shoot, I even speak a poco español, myself.

Yet, I have to wonder, how many of those Flea Market shoppers are in this country legally?

I would have to agree that immigration from down south is out of control.

If you need a good laugh, go to that flea market with a bullhorn and shout "la migra, la migra".

The illegals will scatter like cockroaches when the lights are turned on.

Its WAY past time for something to be done.

I just saw a similar thread where a moderator closed it due to "racism"

I'm sorry, but simply stating a person's ethnic origin is not being "racist".
And "fshfndr" did not state this in a manner in which it could even be interpretted as an insult. He was simply stating a fact IMO.

This is THE biggest problem facing America today folks.
It's really disappointing to see so many of you cator to it. :(

I hate to be the one to point this out, because I usually REALLY dislike people that do this, BUT you spelled illegal wrong in your thread title.

On the note of this thread though, I don't have a problem with someone who wants to come here LEGALLY and work just like the rest of us for hard earned money. On the other hand, there are several people who are jobless in this country and WANT to work, but can't find jobs and that's a problem.

I don't have the answers, but I know something needs to be done and soon!

That's funny, but it does pose a question ...

What do moderators find so offensive about these discussions?
From what I've read in this thread and in other locked threads, nobody has been "out of line" and everyone has respectfully voiced their opinions.

Dino,
In the case of the last thread that was locked, the moderator stated his reasons which I'll include here.

Whatever message the article may contain is overshadowed by the blatant bigotry and racist remarks. It has no place on The Firing Line. It is low-road material. We do not take the low-road here.

Closed for the reasons stated above.

The article copied into the original post was more about anti-Mexican rantings than it was about illegal immigration.

What do moderators find so offensive about these discussions?

Threads of this sort tend to get shut down (in my experience) because the poster has a low post count and is posting material that is intentionally going to rile people up.

Are you familiar with the term "trolling"? This poster has 8 posts and most of them are right here in legal and political. Not against the rules, but the Mods are pretty heavy handed when it comes to trolls, usually.

Most people that join here are looking for info on guns, ammunition,CCW laws, training, etc. Not legal discussions. The majority of people we get in this part of the forum with few posts are generally trolls.

In all honesty, I didn't even bother visiting the links that were attached to the thread. Now I understand. ;)

Thanks

I heard somewhere that we are building a wall to deter people from coming across the Mexico border into the US. I don't think that we should resort to that sort of tactic. My reasons are that it is comparable to say the Berlin wall, it makes the lanscape ugly and third it probably will not be effective. If we didn't hire illegal immigrants they would not come. Just my 2 cents.

Not hiring illegals is a start. What besides a "wall" (I think it's actually called a fence) would you suggest? As far as making the landscape ugly, I don't think we're talking about anything near the size of the Berlin wall.

Here's part of the problem:
If you are offended by very bad language, please do not watch this video. Protesters on our side have captured video of a Nestle Corporation contractor screaming insults against whites and Americans while hiring a large crew of illegal aliens to go work near food being prepared for your consumption.

Mercy

That does it for Nestle with me. I'm to report that sucker to ICE. Any ICE people here? He is not American anymore. He is a criminal!

Both borders should be mined and everything within 200 meters should be a free fire zone.
Sort of a "reverse" Berlin wall? That type of wall unfortunately, works both ways, keeping some out while keeping some in.
Politics and crime are breaking this country. This particular subject is just another symptom.
Due to the energetic zeal in which the latinos tend to enlarge their families and the decided opposite of the majority of North Americano's I think the next 50 years will definitely see a further shift in the American (North) demographics. Let's hope that the new 21st Century Spanish speaking America hold the same ideals as our forefathers and Simon Bolivar.

Texas and Cali were taking the brunt of the Latino movement but now I don't think so I think there are just as many illegals in NY as there are in TX but when the time comes (and I think it will) we as a minority at this point will have to do something to stop it, Our government isn't doing anything, without government backing the citezens the military won't either. So i say its on us, we need to just wait it out and when the time comes be ready.

And wow!!! I just watched that video and (I erased what i originally put i don't want anti-gun bitches seeing it) But i'd knock that wonna be challupa on his ass.... wow that pisses me off that someone from our own country knowing what our troops sacrifice and the way unemployment is today becuase he hires illegals he should be tossed in that mote with the crocs and parahnas (SP).

LOL thats so crazy i just watched a 2 hour documentary on the KKK saturday night on the history channel, but i'm not for all of that all i'm saying is that our government is going to leave us high and dry sooner or later. I don't hate anyone I like blacks, asians, latinos, even middle easterns. What i don't like is people that cheat the system... I work for the government so i see it everyday people are illegal and have a family of 15 and get free health care, food stamps, unemployment, and all the jobs from the working class person because they work for next to nothing. Although i do want to put this in here that there are some legals and i don't have a problem with them working in our country trying to better themselves, but then they take their money and send it across the border to mexico to their family thats wrong and hurting our economy.
