Thin walled barrels?

How can you tell if your shotty's barrel is thin walled or not? Having a thin walled barrel means you can't shoot steel right? Thanks for any info you can give me.

i dont know about checking wall thickness but most that can shoot steel say so on the barrel somewhere. at least all the ones i have do.

Being thin-walled has nothing to do with being able to shoot steel shot. If it doesn't SAY for steel - it ain't for steel! Most shotguns over about 10 to 15 years old are not approved for steel shot use. They are also not approved for any of the other non-toxic shot except Bizmith (which can be used in any barrel).
