Then What?

How many of you have a "THEN WHAT" pistol on your list? What I mean by this is, do you have a pistol that you want so bad or have wanted for a number of years, that when buying it, its then what? You know how it is you buy one and are in love with it for a while, then you set your sights on something else. I have wanted a 1911 for so long, well longer than I can remember anyway, that once I take the plunge to get one I'm like then what? So I keep looking at the different ones and waiting to see whats coming and so forth and so on. I like collecting firearms but the 1911 is my then what piece. And imho there is nothing else in the handgun market that strikes my fancy more than the 11.

I bought my first gun last month and was SOOO excited about it and I still like it a lot but I had my eye on another one within a couple of weeks. There are several guns that I want, and I am sure after I get the next one I want there will be another one out there and then another and another. Someday ultimately I would LOVE a nice 1911 but right now that's not in my price range being that I am out of work right now. It wouldn't be smart or responsible for me to spend that kind of money on something I WANT when there are things that I NEED right now and bills to pay.

Each time I buy another, I settle down for a month or two. Then gradually, I start doing research on my next purchase, and then the day comes when I can no longer restrain myself, and I buy it.

This cycle keeps repeating, but I budget for 2-3 guns a year so the other bills get paid, no worries.

I have a list of 5-6 waiting in queue

Buying a gun in it self is kinda like an addiction. As long as you are finicailly secure, than I see no reason to not feed it. Have you wondered how some have huge gun collections? Well now you have your answer. Very few of us can stop collecting, even after that one gun which you describe. If I stopped after the "what than" gun, I would not have what I currently have. I may not shoot them all the same day, but they all get shot at least once a year. Mostly depends on which ammo I have. There will always be a "what than/now" gun. But somehow an answer usually comes along.

I believe in the old saying "He who dies with the most toys wins".:D

This is my hobby, my pastime, my bonding time with my wife and friends, my passion, and my addiction. It does it all for me, so there is never a "what than" with out an answer.

My guns I had really wanted was a 45-70, then it was a 10 gauge, and now it's money to shoot them. Now that I've acquired 14, I'm really trying to be good with shooting all them. I'd love to just buy a bunch of guns all of the time, that'd be great. But that's hard to make happen. My main concern now is being the best I can with what I have. And slowly modifying them.

I always have another to replace any I buy from my "must buy" list. So it is never ending. Now ONE gun can lead to an endless "then what" list.
Thompson/Center Contender, or Encore. You buy the first one with a barrel of some caliber, and from that point to infinity it's another barrel, then what one next!

I've got all my needs covered. To me it's all about the Deal. If the price is right on anything I reload for it might follow me home.

They're a few guns I'm always on look out for just not going to overpay for them, mostly used revolvers.

This is an election year so I'm going to defer a gun purchase and consult my state rifle association to see where a campaign contribution can make THE most impact.

There may be an anti-gun state senator who is vulnerable to being toppled, it may be the governors race, I don't know.

But I have a pretty long list of guns that I'd like after that...

My "then what" gun is a Freedom Arms in 454 Casull with a fitted 45 colt cylinder. When I get it, nothing else will compare (I hope)

I have a wanted list (rifles, Pistols & shotguns) here so whenever I buy one I just cross it off the list and start looking for something else on the list. Unfortunately that list is longer than funding allows for, maybe someday I'll be in a better position to get caught up. As it stands, my last 3 purchases weren't even on my list, just happened to find the right deal and couldn't pass it up. List keeps growing though as a matter of fact I just put a couple more on it. Right now I'm on a battle rifle jag so that's what I'm concentrating on.

I just bought a g17 on Friday and already want an m9 I saw in the case. Will probably have it or at least in layaway by the end of the month.

My than what

My what than are now the guns I carried when on active in the air force. a S&W Combat Masterpiece and a Colt cobra, with the 1 1/2 " barrel. I was assigned courier duty and carried the colt sometimes. I was in from 1966 to 1986 and a 1/4
