I don't know how many folks have played around with this before, but I just had my first go with Google Earth. It is just a stunning application!
Satellite imagery of, well, the entire earth (or Geopolitical globe, my moderator ), is in there. You can rotate the earth in 3D to bring up the continent you like, then zoom with the thumbwheel of your mouse to see, depending on the particular location... right down to individual cars! Just mind boggling, and truly fascinating. They have layers for roads, and other mapping info...

Whether you want to see the Kremlin, the White House, or your house, odds are, it's in there.
