The "Woodchop"

Yipee !...Our Clubs Woodchop is on Tuesday night & for a comp. that's only held on every 5th Tuesday in a calender month, it's taken quite seriously ;)

I've loaded up some "special" 200gr .40 S&W loads to take down my log, just hope my team mates are as fanatical as me !...LOL

For those not familar with the concept, you have a team of 4 shooters letting rip at a green 7' pine log set a approx 13yds - WHAT A HOOT ! :)

If you've never done/seen it, get some friends together & give it a go. You won't be dissappointed !

Are you insinuating that these loads are hot even byyour standards? Boy, these must be hot loads. Glad I'm a continent and an ocean away :) :)

Not exactly an Earth shattering record as the logs were really green & had been left out in the rain for a few days.
Still had lots of FUN !
Next shoot is August the 31st, start sandbaggin' the bedroom (fal) ;)LOL

fal, HS: According to my calculations HS' loads go into low earth ortbit, and there have been unexplained strikes on some shuttle flights. There should be little danger (except on re-entry, but 200gn. bullets should burn up before reaching sea-level... were a bit concerned here in mountain country) :)

I wonder how the 454 Casull would fare in a Woodchop? - naturally, would be limited to five shots (in the Raging Bull) - no question of using speed loaders as the firing hand is usually (temporarily) crippled for a while after one full cylinder. But come to think of it, if the team is four shooters, the heavier artillery could 'soften up' the log for the faster wimpy guns...
