Greetings, I would like to know if anyone
here on TFL has ever seen inside The War
Wagon? You know, that black surburan that
travel's in the President's motorcade. I
have heard that is is loaded with all kinds
of H&K product's; from handgun's to rocket
launcher's? If anyone knows the truth of the
matter, please post; as I am just curious!!!

Best Wishes,

Don't know myself, but my gut is that if someone who did, did tell you, they'd have to kill you. :) :)

I live in taxachusettes and in the late 80's when Dukakis was running for president, he had Secret Servive assigned to him. At the time I was a security Guard at a magor hospital in Boston, and Dukakis was coming in to give a speach. When his motorcade came up the back side of the hospital There was a suburban, and a stationwagon both had secret service. The stationwagon was in the rear and there was one guy in the back with a submachine gun I believe it was an MP-5, he never got out of the car . The suburban had two agents in the rear with subguns and they too did not get out. The guys that did get out had no noticable weapons. Now this guy was only a candidate at the time, so I acn only imagine that the pres gets the heavy duty gear.

As a performance driving instructor, I have trained with eight of the Secret Service driving instructors. I asked one of them the same exact thing and the only thing he would tell me was that it was very well equipped and that typically their duty sidearm was a "mid-sized" Sig Sauer (so I'm assuming the 228 or the 229).
I've heard rumors that there is a .50 cal in the back, but I think the only answers you will get will be hearsay. Sorry I couldn't help.

This is a little off-topic, but interesting imho...

I worked with David Frost for several years, and we were interviewing then Vice President George Bush at the White House, during the 1988 campaign.

I was talking to one of the secret service guys, the one who looks like Clint Eastwood, as I recall.

Everyone was scared of the possibility of Dan Quayle ever becoming president should anything happen to George the Elder. I asked the agent about this...

He looked at me, got a twinkle in his eye, a wry grin, and then said, "Don't worry. Well take care of it."

Read that anyway you want. ;)
